In search of harmony
Hi love. How’s this moon treating you?
There are many beautiful interpretations about what this moon is about. My favorite intuitive astrologer Virginia Rosenberg says that this time is about making peace: renegotiating agreements and resetting our relationships for greater connection and harmony. This moon is generally seen as a time of restoring balance, as Libra is known for its focus on relationships, harmony, and diplomacy.
During this full moon, you may find yourself focusing on your relationships and seeking to restore reciprocity in them. This includes your relationship to yourself. You may also feel a strong desire for justice and fairness, and may seek to resolve any conflicts or disputes that you've been dealing with.
This sounds beautiful, and it is.
And, this beauty sometimes feels like fire. Aided by the sun in Aries, there is an incendiary nature to this moon. Tension builds heat and burns away the impurities that keep us shackled to unworthiness in our relationships. We draw a line in the sand. Boundaries are made.
For me, this moon stirred up a lot of relationship trauma from my past. Yesterday I attempted a ritual that had been brewing in me for a while, but it was too intense for me to continue on my own. I’ll be calling upon my circle to hold me through it at a later date.
As a bonus post this week, I wanted to share my ritual with you. I’ve done this ritual before and it wasn’t nearly as intense as yesterday. I think the nature of the relationship you are working to restore determines the charge it brings up for you. Handle it with care and be extra kind to yourself if you get too activated to continue. As always, seek our support from your therapist if you need it.
The ritual is very simple and can be used at any time, with any relationship (including your relationship to yourself).
This week’s publication (launching Friday) is about the benefit of structure of rituals, so you can self-design your own healing containers whenever you feel like you need that kind of support. But for now, allow me to share the general structure of my ritual yesterday, for you to tuck into your back pocket (or maybe engage in tonight or tomorrow).
Ritual for forgiveness and letting go
Preparation: Choose a safe space where you will not be bothered. Make it extra cozy. Light candles, wrap yourself in blankets, make your favorite cup of tea, adorn yourself in oils. Anything that feels safe, grounding and soothing. Do some light yoga, stretching or mindful dance to ground into your body and resonate with your breath.
Invocation: Call upon any support you may need. Imagine your best friend and most trusted allies surrounding you with protection and love. Call upon your highest self for guidance, non-attachment and perspective. Ask your healed and well ancestors to join you.
Symbolic actions: If you have any trinkets that are connected to the relationship you are trying to heal or let go of, spend some time with them. Feel them and feel the connection they have to this person. Allow yourself to be moved by them.
Recitation: Generate a prayer or intention for this ritual. Speak from your heart. Ask for what you need.
Transmutation: This is the transformation of energy or intention. For this ritual we are leveraging journaling for this part. The template goes:
Dear (insert their name),
I am angry that…
I feel hurt that…
I feel sad that…
I feel compassion for…
I feel grateful for…
I honor you for…
I am willing to forgive you for…
I release you on your journey.
And so it is.
And then read the letter out loud as many times as you need to feel complete. Allow yourself to be moved by this process. Your needs will vary. Let your intuition guide you. You may need to cry, or snuggle an animal, or dance, or yell, or shake, or scream, or draw, or sing, or sleep. Allow the energy to inform you on how it wants to move through you.
Perhaps your will want to burn the letter and the trinkets associated with this person, or bury them, or tuck them away for another day. The choice is yours; let it all be part of the transmutation process.
Closing: End with a prayer for closure and peace. Give gratitude to your helpers for holding you during the process.
Be extra kind to yourself after you do this. I find that spending some time with my hands in the dirt helps ground the air and fire energy of a Libra moon and Aries sun. I also really love taking a hot shower or bath to aid in energetic cleansing after a ritual.
If you give this a try, I would love to hear how it went for you. Find me on socials or reply to this email.
May this ritual and this publication support all beings, everywhere.
Soulful blessings,
Emily
