What is this blog about?

There is a very old, cross-cultural story that describes how the world is created, and why it never ends.

The story goes that there is an old woman in a cave on a mountain in some far-off land.

She only has two tasks. All day, every day, she sits and weaves our world together, and every once in a while she gets up from her weaving to walk to the back of the cave to stir the seeds of life that sit stewing in a cauldron over a fire, waiting for their time to be woven into the world.

Every once in a while, while she is at the back of the cave attending to the seeds of life, the little back dog sneaks out of the shadows, tears her tapestry to shreds, and saunters back into the darkness.

When the woman returns to her tapestry that is the world, she discovers absolute chaos. As she stands there, full of every emotion - anger, grief, despair, hopelessness - she slowly starts picking up the threads, one by one, holding them in her hands.

And eventually, a vision emerges for an even more beautiful tapestry than the one that was destroyed, and she gets back to work.

And the story repeats for eternity.

This is a blog about me, holding my threads, feeling that the vision for the next tapestry is imminent. It’s an attempt for me to integrate my multi-passionate life so I can weave the sacred body of work that I know I am called to create for this world. It’s a space for me to come back to when the little black dog tears everything to shreds again.

Its a story of my becoming, and I’m so grateful you are here.

Why subscribe?

I believe that we are all mirrors for each other. Our lives exist in complex and beautiful relations, and the universe brings us together so that we can remember our innately whole, worthy and authentic selves through others.

If you’re here, maybe it’s because you’re trying to find your threads. Or maybe the little black dog just tore your world apart and you’re in the depths of feeling that loss. Or maybe you’re also looking for integration and embodiment of your soul purpose.

However you got here, the very act of subscribing to this blog and joining me on my journey, means that you are saying yes to knowing, loving, remembering, and integrating your own wholeness, too.

May we Become, together.

About the Author

I'm Emily.

My vision for humanity is that we awaken to the magnificence of our cosmological story. Through this awakening we realize our inseparable connection to all of life that has ever existed, and we follow the evolutionary impulse to fully participate in the unfolding of creation before us.

This blog is my exploration of my own “full participation” in co-creating this universal story.

I used to think that in order to do this, I needed a pithy purpose statement to place on my website, with clean-cut edges around what I do and who I serve. I used to believe that in order to have a place in this universal story, that I needed to earn it through my service. I used to believe that a strategy I created with my mind would get me there. I used to hustle for this belonging.

Now, I see that life is much more complex than that, and thank goodness. The little black dog helped me see this. And now, in an earnest attempt to let my soul lead me back home, I stand here holding threads so that I may know what “full participation” truly looks like for me. So that my sacred body of work that I feel called to create is not a project of hustling and deficiency, but one of whole, vibrant aliveness.
